The First Hong Kong Harmonica Festival 2003 4 & 5 October 2003 (Sat & Sun), Hong Kong Cultural Centre

The First Ever Harmonica Festival in Hong Kong... ...Immerse Yourself in Harmonica Music for a Weekend. Apply NOW.
Harmonica is one of the most popular musical instruments, thanks to its handiness and rich expressiveness.
Many people have got in touch with a harmonica at an early age, but not many people learn to appreciate the full power of this musical instrument,
or more correctly, this musical instrument family. The chromatic harmonicas are suitable for classical and jazz music.
The tremolo harmonicas are one of the most popular musical instruments in the Asia, and are particularly suitable for demonstrating the unique character of Asian folk music.
The 10-hole diatonic harmonicas are indispensable in blues and pop music, as well as folk music of the Americans.
Apart from solo instruments, other types of harmonicas like chord harmonicas and bass harmonicas are used in harmonica ensembles.
To enhance the public's understanding of the harmonica family and to develop the art of harmonica performance in various musical styles, the Hong Kong Harmonica Association and
the Leisure and Cultural Services Department are proud to co-present the first harmonica festival in Hong Kong.
This is a unique opportunity dedicated to the local harmonica lovers to let them share their passion. To be held in the Hong Kong Cultural Centre during the first weekend in October,
the Festival will include a variety of programmes:
- Opening concert featuring the world-renowned Robert Bonfiglio and Adler Trio
- 9 categories of competition for solo and group
- Seminars by Robert Bonfiglio, Adler Trio and other harmonica virtuosi
- Open stage performances in the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Foyer
