許翔威   作曲家

許翔威作品超過一百五十首，委約者包括中外藝術節、樂團、電台和教育機構等。不少世界級音樂家都演出過他的樂曲，其樂曲曾於亞洲、澳洲及歐美許多國家演出及廣播、參展於國際音樂節、中國藝術及華裔作曲家專場等。音樂家常一再邀請許氏創作新曲，從香港管弦樂團、香港中樂團及香港小交響樂團均數度委約他便可見一斑；他與英皇口琴五重奏合作無間，包括三首由管弦樂團協奏的作品。許氏創作了大量具代表性的口琴新音樂，跨越文化時空的古琴與口琴合奏便是突出一例。在最近兩屆亞太口琴節，共有八首許氏作品奏出。許翔威是香港口琴協會榮譽駐會作曲家及香港結他樂團的駐團作曲家、「樂友」主編，他曾在香港中文大學及香港音樂專科學校授課多年。

 

 

HUI Cheung Wai     composer

An eclectic composer with his own style, Hui has written over 150 works. His music has been chosen by world-class musicians such as the Arditti Quartet, or selected in international music festivals, in addition to other showcases and broadcasts, covering major cities in four continents including performances at prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center.  Hui has been commissioned to write a lot of new works for the harmonica, including a historical double-bill premiered by King’s Harmonica Quintet with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. By 2005, Hui has composed 20 sets of harmonica music ranging from solo to large ensemble which add up to a total time of nearly 200 minutes. That also includes a cross-cultural piece for guqin and harmonica. Since the inauguration of Hong Kong Harmonica Association, Hui has been its Honorary Composer-in-Residence.
