Postlude

Fragments of memories make up a blend of sounds, images and emotions in this 11-part piece of music. A variety of compositional technique lends a sense of versatility to the music. This work symbolizes the life of Hong Kong people in the recent decades when Chinese/British, East/West, and Traditional/Modern cultures merged uniquely in the late phase of colonial history of the unique city. The music has subtly quoted melodic fragments from popular nursery rhyme, tunes by Bee Gees and Beatles, Christmas carols and Canto-pop, reflecting personal reminiscences of past events and figures.
